InterContinental Hotels, Jain Group team up for Holiday Inn in Durgapur
In a recent press release, hospitality bigwig InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has announced that it has teamed up with Kolkata-based Jain Group for developing a Holiday Inn in Durgapur.
The Holiday Inn for which IHG has partnered with Jain Group will mark the foray of the Holiday Inn brand in the industrial town of Durgapur. The Rs 75-crore hotel to be developed by the two companies will reportedly be the first eco-friendly 5-Star hotel in south Bengal.
According to the press release, the IHG-Jain Group Holiday Inn in Durgapur will likely become operational within the next 2-3 years. Other than the Durgapur Holiday Inn, IHG and Jain Group will also join forces for developing two more 5-Star Holiday Inn properties in Kolkata and Siliguri.
With regard to the plans for the Durgapur Holiday Inn, in partnership with Jain Group, IHG’s Rajiv Sharma – the company’s VP development, (South West Asia) – said IHG is fully aware of the needs of the global travellers in the present times.
Drawing attention to the fact that IHG franchises, leases, manages or owns more than 4,700 hotels and 6,88,000 guest rooms in almost 100 countries, and has over 1,100 hotels in its development pipeline, Sharma said that IHG is “well-positioned to offer a unique guest experience to both business and leisure visitors to south Bengal when the new Holiday Inn opens in Durgapur.”
