Is the new amendment in property rights beneficial for divorced women?
According to a recent amendment, now in case of a divorce, a woman gets to keep a share of immovable residential property rather than all immovable properties owned by the husband.
Due to which, a woman can acquire only the residential immovable properties of her spouse.
The main motto is that in case of a divorce, the woman will be able to keep half of the share of the property or assets acquired by the couple after marriage.
The CEO – Residential Services, Jones Lang LaSalle India has stated that due to this amendment, a financial security will stay for a woman after divorce.
The new amendment is written as against the old one which states that the husband pays the woman a monthly maintenance or a one-time settlement, which, in most cases, are a pittance.
