ITIR project to soon start in Odisha

The state IT (Information and Technology) department has sought the final approval from the Union ministry of Communications and IT for the development of the IT investment region (ITIR) in Bhubaneswar.

The ITIR in Odisha is will be developed on an area of 41.32 square km (10,210 acres) between Bhubaneswar and Khurda. 4,300 acres is allotted to the IT/ITes (IT enabled services), electronics hardware manufacturing (EHM) and research and development (R & D) centers and this will definitely create jobs for the youth of the country.

On April 13, 2010 the state government had submitted a detailed project report (DPR) to the Department of Electronics and Information Technology (Deity), Government of India. On July 6, 2012, under the chairmanship of the Cabinet Secretary, Government of India, the DPR of the state government was cleared.

In this meeting the chief secretary, Odisha made the presentation and everyone welcomed the move from the state government. Pranab Prakash Das the state IT minister wrote to Ravi Shankar Prasad the Union minister of Communications and IT & Law and Justice and mentioned that the approval from the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Government of India, has not yet been received.

On January 27, 2014, all the necessary clarification regarding power transmission infrastructure in this ITIR region, which will be borne by the state government, has already been sent to Deity. It seems ‘’acche din aane wale hain’’for Odisha.
