Japan, Singapore desirous of healthy working relationship with India
A delegation comprising six MPs from Japan’s political parties – Liberal Democratic Party, Democratic Party of Japan, People’s Life Party and Japan Restructure Party – met Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu at New Delhi today.
A desire to strengthen bilateral ties with India was expressed by delegation leader Ichiro Aiswa, who declared that PM Narendra Modi’s decisive mandate would help in furthering Indian economic development.
He emphasised Japan’s interest in strengthening existing ties between the two countries, referring to earlier instances of Japanese assistance in sectors such as development of Metro projects. The Japanese government and companies were keen to collaborate with new initiatives in the area of urban development, he said.
In a positive response, Naidu welcomed the delegation and mentioned how the Indians value cooperation with Japan, and would like to benefit in urban areas, besides disaster management. He also discussed Parliamentary functions of both countries.
Later in the day, he also met Singapore High Commissioner Lim Thuan Kuan, who expressed a desire to cooperate in urban development projects and skill development here. Kuan mentioned that India was a fast train which everyone wished to board.
