Just one room as a home for 32.2 percent residents
New Delhi- Although Delhi might be prospering swiftly in terms of per capital income, but a recent mathematical calculation report stated that about 32.2% residents have just a single room to call as their home. This eventually proves that the capital has a very large proportion of lower middle income class as its population.
On Tuesday, the statistics were released based on the households by number of dwelling rooms which showed that 29.6% of the households were residing in just two-room units followed by 1% residing in just a room with their families. The 2011 senses data pictured that 43,813 families live in shared rooms and nearly 40,000 of them are in urban Delhi.
The National capital has only 20% of the households enjoying the comfort of dwelling in three room units followed by a rare presence of four room units with around 3.48 lakh (10.4%) people wherein the city’s population is about 1.67 crore. However, about 1 lakh families reside in houses with five rooms and 1.5 lakh people in houses with six or more than six rooms.
Henceforth this data derives an urgent need to focus on the weaker housing sector in the city.
