In an evident attempt to decongest towns and cities along the Bangalore-Mysore corridor, an 800-acre township is being planned by the Karnataka Government at Tubinakere, which is located between Mandya and Srirangapatna.

The executing authority for the planned township in Tubinakere will be the Karnataka Housing Board (KHB).

In a statement released to the reporters, Karnataka Housing Minister M H Ambareesh said that, on the basis of a comprehensive assessment of the entire Bangalore-Mysore stretch, it has been found that Tubinakere is a “well suited” location for the 800-acre township.

According to Ambareesh, Tubinakere not only has “a good amount of dry land” for the township, but also boasts convenient connectivity by train; thanks to its location on the busy National Highway. In addition, Tubinakere also has a Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) industrial layout, as well as a University of Mysore study centre.

Pointing out that all the KHB has to do for the development of the planned 800-acre Tubinakere township is to “implement lift irrigation scheme for drinking water purpose,” Ambareesh said: “Based on the success of this township, similar projects will be taken up across the State mainly to decongest towns and cities facing huge demand for residential sites.”
