Karnataka Housing Board’s Outskirt Property Areas Valued Rs.1000 crore
In a recent land audit, it is calculated that Karnataka Housing Board owns unaccounted property worth over Rs 1,000 crore.
In the audit it is also pointed out that those 18,000 properties in Bangalore are not registered in the asset register of KHB.
The government has planned to distribute the newly identified assets to the public through auction.
All the newly identified properties are largely located outside Bangalore. The government has instructed the KHB officials to maintain clear records and fence them.
The department has also calculated that the installments of about 16 lakh Ashraya houses built across state are due. To collect the installments amount, the government has waived off the interest components and asked the original beneficiaries to pay the principal of `10,000 each for ownership.
The KHB has planned to issue a 21-day notice to the original beneficiaries, the houses will be transferred to the current occupants in case of no response.
