Kerala: DLF issue to be investigated by three-member expert committee
Minister for Environment Thiruvanchour Radhakrishnan told the Kerala Assembly on Wednesday that the DLF Realtors issue – involving the company’s alleged violation of Coastal Regulation Act – will be investigated by a three-member expert committee.
The alleged violation by DLF is linked to the company’s residential complex at Chilavanoor river banks in Kochi.
During the Wednesday proceedings in the House, Radhakrishnan tabled the Chief Secretary report based on a probe into the allegations that clearance to the in-question DLF project was given in violation of CRZ Act. Radhakrishnan told the Assembly that the report had pointed out that there were certain technical matters which required clarifications.
With regard to the three-member expert committee formed for investigation the DLF issue, Radhakrishnan said that the three members of the committee will be: Dr Padmakumar of Fisheries University; Prof Ramachandran of Cochin University of Science and Technology; and Dr Kamalakashan Kokkal of Kerala State Science Technology Environment Council. He also said that the committee has been given 15 days to submit its report.
Later, in a briefing to the reporters, Radhakrishnan said – without divulging the details of Chief Secretary’s report – that the government would be able to reach a conclusion in the DLF issue only after looking into all the aspects of the matter.
