Kerala Monorail Corp miffed over inordinate delay in tender process

No Comments Sub Category:Realty News Posted On: Jul 29, 2014

The Kerala Monorail Corporation Ltd (KMCL) is apparently irked by the unwarranted delay in tender process.

The KMCL has asked the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) about the reason behind the delay in filing the evaluation report of the technical bid, which was opened on May 30. The report – which should have been submitted within a week or two – will likely be filed by the DMRC by next week.

The technical bid was submitted by Bombardier Transportations, which is the sole bidder for Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode monorail projects.

Until the evaluation report of the technical bid is submitted by the DMRC, the tender process cannot move to the next stage — that is, opening of the financial bid for the monorail project. Since Bombardier is the only bidder for the monorail project, the decision which the government will have to take will be whether or not to award the project to Bombardier.

Meanwhile, with regard to the inordinate delay by the DMRC in submitting evaluation report of the technical bid, a senior KMCL official said: “The DMRC informed that they needed some clarity on certain aspects in the technical bid submitted by Bombardier. The DMRC stated that they would submit the report the day Bombardier gives them clarification…. Now, the DMRC informed us that they will submit the report by next week.”
