Kolhapur: Civic admn seeks suggestions for setting up IT Park
The Information Technology Park (IT Park) initiated by the Kolhapur Municipal Corporation (KMC) will finally be set up; thanks to the approval to the project by the corporators from Temblaiwadi area.
The ago-ahead by the corporators removes the biggest obstacle in the way of setting up the first-ever IT Park in Kolhapur city.
To make the much-awaited progress with regard to the setting up if the IT Park in Kolhapur, the civic administration is now seeking suggestions – as well as objections – from local residents. The residents can register their suggestions with the town planning department within a period of one month.
The original plan for the IT Park was opposed by the local corporators of the Temblaiwadi area because they claimed that the project will disturb the ecosystem of the Temblai hill, and will cause inconvenience to pilgrims visiting the temple of goddess Temblai.
The site for the IT Park had been selected by KMC – and the IT Association of Kolhapur – because of its convenient connectivity to the airport. The site is located outside the city, amid lush green surroundings.
About the IT Park site, KMC’s Deputy Mayor Mohan Gonjari – who is also a corporator from Temblaiwadi area, said: “Initially, the project was to come up near the Temblai temple, a move that was opposed by the local corporators. After the demand, we changed the site, which is now located around 200 meters away from the earlier location and away from the temple site.”
