KPSCB set to seal down Graphite India
The residents of Doddanekundi are sick of the nearby polluting-factories. The members of Doddanekkundi Residents’ Welfare Association have been complaining to Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) regarding this issue for more than a decade but till now no action has been taken.
Sources said Graphite India is one of the few units that have been causing pollution for years. Though the pollution-control board had given enough time to the factory to implement pollution norms, nothing has been done. So the KSPCB has now planned to shut down Graphite India.
Forty families live in GM Paradise, an apartment behind Graphite India’s factory. They say the dust coming from the factory is a major problem. The windows of their flats remain closed always to avoid dust from the factory.
Residents of the surrounding areas have been suffering from various ailments, such as breathing problems, thyroid disorders, etc. owing to the dust and harmful gases and particles emanating from those factories.
