Land acquisition delays Porur flyover
The delay of Porur flyover made life difficult for motorists travelling on Mount Poonamallee Road and Arcot Road. The delay in the land acquisition process has delayed the project to construct a flyover at the busy Porur junction. The Rs.34.72-crore flyover would benefit motorists travelling on Mount Poonamallee Road and Arcot Road and expected to reduce congestion in the area, said Mr.Rao, who inspected the project site along with officials of the Highways Department.
“The project must have been completed by August this year. But, the construction is only in initial stages because of the delay in land acquisition,” Maduravoyal MLA G. Beem Rao said after reviewing the progress of the work on Monday. Work on the facility was launched a year ago, he added.
Mr.Rao is also planning to meet the Highways Secretary to insist on speedy completion of the project.
Residents said the traffic diversion on Mount Poonamallee Road for vehicles proceeding from Porur to Vadapalani into narrow streets of residential areas of Buddha Colony, Mahalakshmi Nagar and Karambakkam has damaged the interior roads and was resulting in traffic pile up.
