Land acquisition in Chennai remains as a major problem for flyover

No Comments Sub Category:Chennai,Infrastructure,Realty News Posted On: Aug 25, 2014

When the flyover opens, it could be the lifeline for people living in the northern parts of the city. But the 80-crore flyover project that is being constructed and will be connecting the central parts of the city to Sathyamurthy Nagar and Erukkanchery continues to be delayed and is not expected to be completed in less than a year. This is becoming a major problem every day.

The construction work had begun in 2010, during the DMK government, and it was supposed to be over by March 2013. The ambitious project has been reset with several problems. The problems are mainly those including which are related to land acquisition and shifting of underground service lines. The roads littered with pot-holes and a subway that is full of water during rain at the crossing of the Sathyamurthy Nagar Main Raod-Erukkanchery High Road junction. This has now become a nightmare for motorists.

It has been actually better these days after the subway had been laid with concrete. Though the road has become neat it is not as wide as it could be. The statement was given by a traffic constable at the spot.
