Links may be established between Eastern Freeway and Eastern Express Highway
Mr. U P S Madan, who happens to be the commissioner of The Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority said that the current corridor which stretches to about a 16.95 kilometres shall be, expanded a little further by 2 kilometres. This happened just after the Chief Minister of Maharashtra; Mr. Prithviraj Chavan, finished inaugurating the last phase of the Eastern Freeway on Monday.
Mr. U P S Madan also mentioned that plans are being made to take the matter right up to the Eastern Express Highway where they are hoping some clearances in terms of environment. At around 6 pm, this Eastern Freeway was let open for public usage and there were expectations that around 6,500 vehicles in total would be supplied.
The CM who had inaugurated the two important links of Eastern Freeway and Kherwadi flyover has mentioned that time will be saved because of this. Within about 8 months, the northern section of the flyover shall be finished.
Mr. Chavan also has some big plans in mind. The coastal road project and its proposal are now holding great importance in fact he said that the sea near Marine Drive shall be reclaimed again. Even though this will be quite expensive, it will encourage tourists globally.
