Low Cost Rental Housing Scheme soon in Mumbai
The Mumbai government appointed a committee to take care of the low-cost rental housing scheme and this was proposed by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority( MMRDA). The scheme of providing shelter for the poor people in the city who could not afford to pay high rental rates. This project aims at providing accommodation for the slum dwellers in the Mumbai city and this project comprises of nearly 18,000 tenements with 160 square meters of construction. The total budget of this project has been estimated as Rs. 5 Lakhs which is mainly planned in the suburb areas in the Mumbai city. MMRDA commissioner, Rahul Asthana reported saying that this project is still in fluctuation over the decision as this property is given to the urban poor under the rental accommodation scheme or to follow up the actual concept of affordable housing is yet to be decided.
