L&T gets Rs 4,510 crore order in Doha metro project
Larsen and Toubro (L&T) has strengthened its presence further in the overseas market, especially the Gulf region. The company has won Rs 4,510 crore order for design and construction of the Golden Line of the Doha metro project. The company has secured order along with its joint venture partners Aktor – Greece, Yapi Merkezi Insaat – Turkey, STFA Group – Turkey and Al Jaber Engineering – Qatar. The total value of the order is $3.3 billion (around Rs 20,000 crore). The project is scheduled to be completed in 54 months and involves design and construction of twin tunnels for an approximate length of 11 kilometre and nine underground metro stations among other works.
S. N. Subrahmanyan, senior executive vice president (infrastructure and construction) L&T says that winning this project reflects the growing confidence of clients in L&T’s capability to handle mega projects in the Middle East.
