Ludhiana to go for GIS mapping of the city
The Ludhiana Municipal Corporation is all set to go hi-tech. The civic body has started GIS mapping of the city.
The municipal corporation is hopeful that the mapping will not only help in better urban planning but also in the effective implementation of developmental schemes by providing proper measurements, size and location of buildings.
It will help in identifying illegal encroachments and similar other violations, along with to calculate property tax. The process is being done with the help of the remote sensing centre in the city and it is likely to be completed by the end of this year.
The official sources say that data for the boundaries of wards and the municipal limit boundaries has already been compiled and the zone-wise data is being analysed.
