Maharashtra CM cleared mega townships two days before Lok Sabha polls
The Lodha Group‘s township of 300 acres was approved of by the chief minister of UDD Prithviraj Chauhan near Dombivli. This occurred in the month of March, just two days before the election code of conduct came into existence.
This township happens to be the first and largest that was cleared under the Development of Special Township Projects which was amended by the state governments. This project is located in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
Just before the day of the elections, another township project of 200 acres was approved of. This belonged to Kotle Patil, a Pune based developer at Hinjewadi.
The managing director of the Lodha Group said that the proposal has recently been sanctioned. For about a period of two and a half years, it was pending with the government.
The Lodha Palava project has immense potential in terms of development and has some of its extension in the villages of Khoni and Antarli in the district of Thane.
A floor space index of 1.5 to 1.7. FSI has been offered by the new amended township policy. In order to establish houses that are low income (around 300 square feet each), a small portion of this FSI should be implemented.
The policy has stated that the built up areas will be used for shopping centres, community centres, library, markets, town hall, recreation centres etc. It will also be used for other activities such as entertainment, tourism, trade and commerce, health care and non polluting industries.
