Maharashtra goes ahead with coastal road project
Now that the government of Maharashtra has already given up its proposal to the Central in order to establish a coastal road which goes up to 35 kilometres, the people of Mumbai can finally anticipate a ride that is green and free from pollution as they travel along the western coast. This road is located between Kandivli and Nairman Point. A large chunk of money is going to be invested in project.
The Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Mr Prithviraj Chavan has mentioned that the six land coastal road has been endorsed mainly because the sea link project seemed impossible because of the financial condition. The project proposal had been sent over to the Prakhash Jawadekar who happens to be the minister of state for environment and forests.
After the announcement was made by Chavan, Worli-Haji Ali sea link project was let go of by the government. Despite the signing of an agreement between the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation and Reliance Infrastructure, the project couldn’t be carried out at all since there were a couple of administrative as well as environment problems. Reliance Infrastructure will be soon leaving this project and the state government hasn’t yet eliminated it although it could have been finished with by the end of the year.
