Maharashtra government cancels 57 land allotments

No Comments Sub Category:Realty News Posted On: Aug 22, 2014

After a long delay, Maharashtra government finally cracked whip against 57 out of the 99 holders of the lands declared “surplus” under the Urban Land Ceiling Act (ULCA). This was done for non-compliance of rules and this measure should have been taken long back.

Justice RK Batta probe panel had indicated these loop holes long back. Justices Ashok Bhangale and ZA Haq on Friday adjourned the hearing of the petition till Monday after which it would be heard on a regular basis. This petition is filed by ex-MLA Sunil Shinde through Counsel Anand Parchure.

Land has always been a lucrative business and a lot of scams come out for land allotments done wrongfully. The petitioner alleged that allotment of surplus land under ULCA was done in an arbitrary manner to influential persons by the government.

Justice Batta panel in his 1,375 page report had brought the violations of norms in the foreground. Vinay Moon informed that out of the 99 proposals examined by the one-man enquiry panel, 27 which were allotted to the government were scrutinized. Vinay Moon, who is also a competent authority for ULC in Nagpur, had submitted an affidavit earlier and had brought out these irregularities in land allocations.
However we all will wait that how many people finally get convicted in this case and actually face the punishment from the court of law.
