MCG cracks down illegal hoardings
A new clampdown has been launched by the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) against illegal advertisements, encroachments and unauthorised constructions.
In a meeting, the commissioner of MCG, Ashok Sangwan announced that all the illegal advertisements along the roads should be removed at the earliest.
Disparity was shown by the commissioner because he is not satisfied with the way the enforcement wing has been dealing with illegal advertisements in the past six months despite order from the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
A specific rule is also set that not a single advertisement should put on the left side of the road. These norms will be soon followed by everyone.
The authority has also asked help from the police to remove advertisements such as uni poles, wall rap, banners, etc.
The high court also took note of all hoardings, including uni poles and wall rap which cause hindrance to the commuters. Around 450 unauthorised constructions have been discovered by the corporation.
A new norm is set for OOH, i .e each billboard must be 30 x 15 inch on a 15-foot pole and at least three meters away from the road. They should not be close to curve or near traffic signals. Even the advertisements should not be reflective and they must not have electricity backup.
