MCHI said Maharashtra government is not interested in affordable housing

Maharashtra Chamber of Housing Industry (MCHI) said that the state government is not helping the builders for constructing affordable housing.

The government has not amended the constructing rule for the construction of affordable houses in Mumbai.

The approval process is still taking long time which leads to increasing cost of construction.

The government officials are arguing that the builders are not interested to follow the central rule of reservation of 20 percent project for affordable housing.

Builders said that the construction of 20 percent affordable housing will increase the cost of construction for the remaining 80 percent of the project.
