No Comments Sub Category:Realty News Posted On: Apr 24, 2014

In as many as 23 states, MoFPI has approved a total of 40 mega food park projects in various stages of implementation.

Under the Mega Food Park scheme of the Union ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI), a state PSU, The Odisha Agro Industries Corporation Limited (OAIC) is eager to set up a mega food park in Koraput district.

Subrata Kumar Mishra, managing director, OAIC, alleged OAIC is taking initiative for establishment of a mega food park in Koraput with the help of state and central government as the state government is now emphasising on agro based industries.

He added we have showed interest to set up the park here after considering the availability of raw material and socio-economic condition of people in Koraput which is a scheduled area.

The state governments/state government entities/cooperatives have been authorized to encourage mega food park projects without the condition of forming a special purpose vehicle (SPV) and are free from setting up a processing unit in the park, among others as per the new revised guidelines.

As per the amended guidelines, the ministry has already invited fresh expression of interest (EoI), to implement mega food park scheme with the aim to create modern infrastructure facilities for food processing industries on cluster basis.

A total of 40 mega food park projects in as many as 23 states have been approved by MoFPI, which are in various stages of implementation.

The state MSME department has been submitted an EoI by the OAIC. The department has directed OAIC to submit a DPR (detailed project report) to the Centre. Mishra added, it will be submitted before 30 April.

The ministry approved two mega food parks in the state i.e. Huma Coastal Mega Food Park in Ganjam and MITS Mega Food Park at Rayagada. Though, the in-principle approval of Huma Coastal Mega Food Park has been annulled on the reason being delay in complying with the norms of the project.
