Metro Plan changes needed- NEW MP demands
Once again the Pune Metro proposal is in the news, and this time because the newly elected MP, Anil Shirole wants a reverse gear to play. The newly elected MP now wants to undo what the outgoing Union government did and their decisions too. This would be on the lines of gifting the city with elevated metro, like in Delhi.
In the month of February this year, it was the UPA government that approved with all principles in place to have an elevated metro gifted to the city of Pune, and its residents. The plan was to have two main corridors, namely;
- PCMC to Swargate
- Vanaz to Ramwadi
The above two was told it would cover a total distance of around 31.51 kilometres, and it was expected that the centre would issue a government resolution for the same, with a plan of action in place and how the project would be implemented as well.
Now that we dont have the congress led UPA government in power anymore, the newly elected MP, Anil Shirole wants to change the route map and plans of the elevated metro. Hence once again the metro for Pune is in limbo, says a source.
