Metro work in Dwarka and Gurgaon delayed due to polls
A metro extension connecting Dwarka and Gurgaon has been delayed indefinitely, as the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has not submitted the detailed project report to the Haryana government.
With the state assembly polls due in October, the model code of conduct will further delay the project. The extension plan has been struggling to take off for the past two-and-half years. Earlier, the issue of integrating the project with the Regional Rapid Transit System had held up the plan. Now, the DMRC is blaming Haryana for delay in funding the plan.
Issues like funding and operation of the project are still to be resolved. The officials of the government and the DMRC are likely to hold a meeting within a fortnight and we hope by then this will be clear and accordingly the DPR (detailed project report) will be prepared said a senior DMRC official.
The work has been delayed in the Dwarka and Gurgaon extension due to the state assembly polls that is set to be hold in the month of October. The work in this sector has been delayed since two years.
