Mini-community centre abstained from construction in Chandigarh
A mini-community centre was recently stopped off from its construction which was happening at Mohali in Chandigarh. This community centre was traced to be constructing in the play ground area which comes under green belt area limits. Pubic interest litigation (PIL) was filed against the builder and also Punjab and Haryana high court issued a motion notice to Greater Area Development Authority (GMADA) for encouraging illegal construction.
When questioned by the court in concern with construction happening in the green belt area, the petitioner seemed to have argued with the bench of judges complaining that much before one more community centre was raised in the same area limits spreading over 3 acres which is now under the jurisdiction of Mohali police. Then the bench of judges finally realized that, the GMADA was flouting norms giving permission for the builders to construct on the area play grounds instead paving way for the residents to utilize them for activities like; sports and other religious functions.
