Monorail’s Phase II delayed because of little planning

No Comments Sub Category:Realty News Posted On: Jun 15, 2014

Because of the lack of decent planning by the MMRDA, there are possibilities that the monorail Phase II which goes all the way from Wadala Depot to Jacob Circle will be delayed. While the agency was making plans for the establishment of a viaduct, it did not look deeply into the extra rail tracks located at Currey Road, despite being proposed.

The deadline set for the second phase of the project had been May 2015. But the officials have recently said that this date seems pretty impossible given the current circumstances. The commissioner of railway safety Mister Chetan Bakshi said that about 4 current tracks belonging to the Central Railway have been allowed by the MMRDA design for purpose of guideways. However, there are plans being made that fifth and sixth lines shall be placed between CST and Kurla. This has been planned by the CR itself and wasn’t taken into account.

Officials have said that it would take about 2 months before work can begin again. Since the project has been delayed so much, there is definitely going to be some kind of effect on the entire project. Some of the officials of the MMRDA have also said that they were not successful enough to get the new design. The joint project director of MMRDA has finally mentioned said that a presentation will soon be shown to the CRS.
