More than 44000 properties in Pune benefited by Property tax concession
Total 44,701 property holders in Pimpri Chinchwad availed the benefit of property tax concessions given by the civic body for people who paid their tax for 2011-12 in advance before June 30.
The property tax department offers three types of tax concessions to city property holders who pay their tax before June 30.
10% concession in general tax to holders of residential properties in Pune, 5% concession to holders of non-residential, industrial or mixed properties, 50% concession to ex-servicemen or freedom fighters, and also 10% concession given to the properties owned by women.
According to the tax collection department, 43,731 property holders took the benefit of 10% concession and paid property tax worth Rs 1.39 crore.
Forty eight women property holders were given 10% concession and paid Rs 1 lakh tax. A total of 922 ex-servicemen received 50% concession and they paid taxes worth Rs 9 lakh.
The property tax department had collected Rs 190 crore as tax in 2011-12 and surpassed its target of Rs 180 crore. There are 3.25 lakh properties in the city registered with the department till March 31, 2012.
