Mumbai: BMC gearing up to demolish Campa Cola’s illegal floors in city
The BMC has efforts underway to demolish Campa Cola’s illegal floors in Mumbai; but a ward-wise survey has revealed that unauthorized additions have been made in 430 other buildings.
The unauthorized additions in 430 buildings were identified by the BMC during a recent ward-wise survey which was primarily carried out with the objection of identifying all such buildings where illegal floors have been added.
The survey found that 74 of the 430 buildings identified by BMC for unauthorized additions are completely illegal. These buildings have been constructed without any permission from the BMC, which plans to initiate action against them as soon as possible.
As per the findings of the survey, the ward in which the maximum number of buildings with illegal alterations has been identified is the R-Central ward (Borivli), which has 96 such buildings. The second highest number of buildings with unauthorized additions is in G-south (Worli) – the ward in which Campa Cola is located – which has 78 such buildings.
With regard to the imminent demolition of Campa Cola illegal floors, a BMC official said that the survey’s data has been “collated to ensure that illegal extensions can be demolished.” The official added alongside: “We are also finding out whether the buildings are involved in legal cases, if so we will pursue the litigations to bring them to a logical end.”
