Mumbai Land expanding over Sea Coast
The chief minister Vasantrao Naik a few decades ago reported over the land expansion of Mumbai over the sea coast reclaiming that the Cuffe Parade and Nairman Point sea coast. This has resulted on the population surviving over this sea coast. These community people have been paying price for the Naik’s decision. The chief minister Prithviraj Chavan has ensured to reclaim the portion of the sea and if state government declares the same on land expansion the fishermen community who are surviving over this coast will result in the protest.
The state government should resolve the pending issues of the communities staying near by the coastal area instead of expanding the land over it. This expansion would completely destroy the survival of the fishermen surviving in the Mumbai coastal region. Fishermen have come forward against the land expansion proposal upheld by the state government. This proposal was submitted by the Netherlands-based expert to the chief minister Prithviraj Chavan recently.
