Last Thursday the high court in Bombay was told that the municipal commissioner Sitaram Kunte have not been taking right decisions on the  proposals for redevelopment of the cessed buildings whose proposed heights are more than 24 metres in the Dadar and Matunga region despite the court’s order. The law and enforcement department has been off late very serious regarding the violation of rules while constructing a building. They are also seeing whether proper environmental clearance have been taken before the construction.

Justice Mohit Shah and Justice M S Sonak have been hearing the applications by the Dadar Matunga Residents Association which previously had challenged their inclusion in the prior proposed heritage list. According to the notice that the court heard the municipal department has not been able to abide by the decisions to maintain the rules.

On the 3rd of February, 2014 the court had directed that the buildings which include those of Grade III will need the nod of the civic chief when the height increases 24 metres apart from the stilt. If rules and regulations are not followed accordingly by the building owners or constructors further serious action can be taken by the court against the building owners or constructors.
