Municipalities have no funds to develop World-class Infrastructures in Chennai
Ammu Ravichandran the president of Theeyambakkam panchayat reported saying that the smaller municipalities in Chennai do not have enough funds to develop world-class infrastructure. However the Chennai Corporation has been fare than the suburban bodies as they claim funds from the State government. Nearly 44.5 lakh voters will be choosing their Mayor and also 200 ward councillors. This election holds the key to major infrastructure improvement for the residents of Chennai. Meanwhile the residents are also worried over the expansion of the city with growing infrastructure. Nowadays, the Chennai Corporation has been receiving nearly 150 calls from residents complaining about garbage collection, unauthorized constructions, non-functional streetlights and incomplete drain construction all over the city. The residents are making aware of local issues of bad roads, solid waste management, streetlights and water supply as this would be creating a negative impact in the forthcoming election of councillors.
