Mysore road flyover closes for renovation
The Mysore Road flyover, built in the 1990′s, will be closed till February 1 for the renovation work between Royan Circle and Sirsi Circle.
So commuters will now have to take left ramp down to join Chamrajpet I Main and Sirsi Circle through Body Builders junction from City Market and NR Road.
The same stretch was closed on January 8 as Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) was planning to replace the expansion joints. For one week, commuters will have to find alternative routes as BBMP has temporarily closed a 2-km stretch for maintenance work. There was a huge traffic pile up in City Market, Chamarjpet and commuters were confused as they were not updated about the traffic diversion. There was no traffic diversion signboards or announcements.
All the 14 joints will be replaced at a cost of Rs. 2.65 crore. Replacement of each joint will require at least five days. The work of replacement is being taken up in phases to ensure that commuters are not inconvenienced, said BBMP officials. The renovation work was taken up in March 2012 and the work was suppose to get over by January 14.
Traffic from Haines junction to Bamboo Bazar, and from KR Circle to Nrupatunga Road will be closed to allow Eid Milad processions on these roads. Over 40,000 devotees are expected to gather at the YMCA ground to participate in the celebrations.
Traffic at KR Circle can enter Cubbon Road and travel towards KR Market via Siddalingaiah Circle, Mallya Hospital Road and Corporation Circle.
