NABARD provides Rs. 192 cr to improve roads, bridges in Karnataka
The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) to provide Rs. 192.38 crore under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) for improving roads and building bridges in Karnataka.
The civic body is planning to beautify 189 roads and 42 bridges will be built across the State.
The project for improving road work and construction of bridges was taken up in September at a cost of Rs. 320 crore. However the bank sanctioned a loan of Rs. 192.38 crore for only 189 road improvement works and construction of 42 bridges in November.
Approvals:
Four roads in Bangalore Rural district will be renovated and they will also construct two bridges on the Doddaballapur-Chickballapur Road at a cost of Rs. 1 crore.
In Bangalore urban district, four roads will be improved in Ramanagaram district at a cost of Rs. 2 crore. Govindapura-Narasipura Road and Maktur Cross-Kalenahalli Road will be improved at a cost of Rs. 1.4 crore.
Haveri district has got the major share of the project worth Rs. 25.89 crore. The improvement work includes construction of a bridge across the Kumudvati on Rattehalli-Malagi-Kanavishiddagere Road in Hangal Taluk at a cost of Rs. 4.9 crore.
The civic body is planning to reconstruct a bridge on the Koratagere-Bavali Road in Mysore district at a cost of Rs. 70 lakh. they will also spent Rs. 4.25 crore for improving six roads in the district.
In Kolar district, six roads will be improved at a cost of Rs. 5.05 crore and Rs. 4.15 crore will be spent for the reconstruction of five roads in Chickballapur district. In Tumkur district, 16 roads will be improved at a cost of Rs. 10.2 crore.
In Mandya district:
Three bridges will be constructed at a cost of Rs. 1.55 crore in the district and four roads in Mandya district will be improved at a cost of Rs. 2.71 crore. 18 roads will be improved at a cost of Rs. 9.5 crore in Hassan district. Three bridges will be built at a cost of Rs. 1.95 crore and two roads will be improved at a cost of Rs. 1.5 crore. in Chikmanglur district.
Projects will be taken up in Shimoga district, at a cost of Rs 10.35 crore. The amount is divided for the development work of all the regions of Shimoga district, the break up are as follows:-

In Bidar district, projects will be taken up at a cost of Rs. 4.25 crore. The government has set a deadline of March 2015 to complete all the projects, as stipulated by NABARD.
