Nagpur Municipal Corporation restarts demolition of illegal constructions
Action against illegal constructions in Nagpur has been started again by the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) after a long gap. With unauthorized constructions to be razed in the city, NMC team from Lakadganj zone will demolish eight commercial shops which have been built illegally in basement parking.
The eight shops to be demolished have been illegally constructed in Khandwani Builders’ Tulsi Apartment at Telephone Exchange Square. The shops have been built in the basement, on space reserved for parking. Businesses running from these eight illegal shops include a courier service and other commercial activities.
With the demolition of the illegal constructions already having been started by the NMC team, led by assistant commissioner Mahesh Moroney, three illegal shops had been razed by the team by Wednesday evening. The five remaining shops will also been demolished soon.
About Khandwani Builders’ illegal constructions, Moroney said that the company had not razed the unauthorized constructions even though it had been given a notice for the same, under the MRTP Act.
Meanwhile, revealing that the NMC team will continue action against illegal constructions in the coming days, Moroney also said that “NMC is going to launch massive drive to clear encroachments on road and footpath on Old Bhandara Road in Central Nagpur.”
