Nagpur: NMC proposes to hike building plan sanction charges by 4-5 times
Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has recently voiced its intention of executing a four- or five-fold increase in the building plan sanction charges vis-a-vis the current charges.
The NMC’s proposal to hike the building plan sanction charges by 4 to 5 times the existing charges comes at a time when the Central government is increasing prices all around. The final decision on the NMC proposal will be taken by the Corporation’s general body, which has been convened Mayor Anil Sole on July 18.
At the general body meeting, a total of 126 general body questions (GBQs) and 16 policy proposals will be discussed, including the proposal related to hiking the building plan sanction charges by 4-5 times.
The proposal pertaining to the hike details the implementation of a new system for recovering building plan sanction charges. Presently, NMC charges Rs 60 per sq mtr to sanction the plan of a residential property; Rs 90 per sq mtr for sanctioning the plan of an industrial property; and Rs 120 per sq mtr for sanctioning a commercial property plan.
The proposal for hiking the building plan sanction charges entails that 2 percent of a plot’s sale deed value should be charged for residential properties; while 3 percent and 4 percent should respectively be charged for industrial and commercial properties.
