NaMo’s well-structured approach to problem solving- welcomed by Commerce, Industry Secretaries

No Comments Sub Category:Realty News Posted On: Jun 30, 2014

P.M Narendra Modi has a complete corporate approach. He first assesses the issues in a project, then assigns the task to the ministry concerned, sets up a time line and then follows up with the team regarding issues and bottlenecks and helps them to resolve them. In the same framework Modi met the Secretaries from the Commerce and Industry Ministry on Tuesday who outlined the work programme of their departments and pointed out areas of concern.

The meeting was also attended by Commerce & Industry Minister (Independent Charge) Nirmala Seetharaman. According to the sources, the meeting was of utmost significance because it not only gave the Prime Minister an idea of what was going on in the Commerce and Industry Ministry, but also gave the Secretaries the opportunity to point out what they expected from the Government, especially in the forthcoming Budget.

The Special Economic Zones (SEZ) were designed to promote exports, however  currently are facing a rough time due to global down-turn and imposition of the minimum alternate tax and dividend distribution tax on units and developers. The Commerce Ministry which is the nodal Ministry for the SEZs is making a case for removal of MAT and DDT on SEZs and extension of other benefits to units in the zones. The team also wants to focus on negotiating future Free Trade Agreements better and leveraging more from the existing pacts to ensure better growth for the nation.
