NBCC sets up innovation and R&D centre in New Delhi

In a statement released on Tuesday, National Buildings Construction Corporation Ltd (NBCC) has revealed that a centre for innovation and research and development (R&D) has been set up by the organization in New Delhi.

According to the information shared by NBCC’s Chairman and Managing Director Anoop Kumar Mittal, the exclusive focus of the new innovation and R&D centre will be on mitigation of building collapse problems.

Mittal said that, in order to ensure that requisite measures are taken to mitigate building collapse problems, the centre will specifically emphasize on safety, innovation, productivity, and sustainable development. Mittal also added that an initial allocation of Rs 2 crore has been earmarked by NBCC for the purpose of taking all possible steps so that building collapse problems can be dealt with efficiently.

With regard to the need for setting up of the new innovation and R&D centre, Mittal said that NBCC had been seriously mulling the establishment of such a centre so that some “demanding issues” linked to construction of buildings could be “effectively” addressed.

Mittal said that the building-related issues which will be the key focus area of the new centre will include “adoption of new technology, eco-friendly green building materials for sustainable, safe, faster, cost effective and quality construction.”
