NDMC wants construction at site of ‘Akbarabadi’ ruins

1 Comment Sub Category:Court,Delhi-NCR,Municipality Posted On: Jul 24, 2012

The North Delhi Municipal Corporation is to appeal to  Delhi High Court to remove the illegally constructed portion of the wall at the site believed to contain ruins of the Mughal-era Akbarabadi Masjid.

The government had already decided that no new constructions would take place at the site where ruins of the structure were dug up.

The court has ordered North Corporation, Archaeological Survey of India and Delhi Police to submit a special status report in this regard.

The stopping of the construction work would disturb the plans under the Jama Masjid Redevelopment project, being implemented by the Shahjahanabad Redevelopment Corporation, said North Corporation officials.
