New act will help in speeding up Kochi metro work
In order to catch up with the scheduled time of the delayed Metro rail project, the revenue authorities have made a decision to expedite the land acquisition process along the stretch of Aluva Vyttila.
The officials of Kochi Metro Rail Ltd stated that they are expecting to complete the process of work by the end of August. The decision of completing the work was taken during a meeting which was called by the Kochi Metro Rail Ltd officials a week ago.
In order to provide clarity on the set of rules that has to be followed during the land acquiring process the state government officials issued an order few days back. The order that has been issued provides instructions to the revenue officials to follow the old Land Acquisition Act rules and issue 4(1) notification.
Mostly in all the cases the direct purchase method are being used. However in certain cases, the landowners are not willing to give their land. Hence their land will be taken over by overlooking the land acquisition rules.
They metro officials also said that as the government has failed to provide the new set of rules for the new act, they will not be able to get the land based on the new act.
