New flyovers in Mumbai Haji Ali and Peddar junction
The Mumbai Transformation Support Unit or MTSU which is a state government think thank recommended for a fresh design to ease the traffic at the Haji Ali Junction and also on Peddar road which is an aerial north south connector. The aerial connector will be able to cut down the rise in traffic problems in Mumbai.
The plan has been made in the place of the decade old proposal for the viaduct which was to be made over Peddar Road. The work had been stopped due to the delay in acquiring the environmental clearance and also by a long going protest by the residents along the alignment. Due to troubles that have been caused during the construction phase the work has been stalled for a long time thereby the traffic problems have also increased in Mumbai.
The Mumbai Transformation Support Unit has zeroed in on the design during a meeting on 9th of July led by the chief secretary empowered committee which comprises of the senior officials of Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation or MSRDC, Brihanmumbai Muncipal Corporation or BMC and the traffic police department. The committee also included the members of the private sector.
