New Gurgaon hogs the limelight against old Gurgaon
Gurgaon- With more and more developments happening in new Gurgaon, Old Gurgaon is left far behind as the difference can be seen while driving down the National Highway No 8.
The new Gurgaon is enhanced with swanky high-rise residential and commercial properties whereas the old Gurgaon gives a picture of bustling streets, jam packed traffic, potholed and crooked roads, lack of water and other facilities. As per the old city residents, their part of the city has been ignored by the authorities and the politicians.
The residents grieved about various issues pertaining the old city and their demand for attention by the development authorities and the appointed agencies. It was said that the agencies and the concerned authorities should attend to the issues based on priorities. Perhaps, none of the authorities seemed to pay attention to any of the civic issues as per the residents.
Complaints by the residents stated that the old Gurgaon which is perhaps the real Gurgaon has been getting an outsider treatment by the state government despite the real Gurgaon generating capital for the state, it is still not paid attention to.
It was told that there is a higher level of discrimination being followed within the city concerning the old and the new Gurgaon and the level of bias has reached to an extent where the authorities are lacking behind in enhancing the part with appropriate education and medical services.
Talking about the infrastructure and the real estate of old Gurgaon, the roads are quite misshapened which eventually waste a large amount of the commuter’s time midst the traffic jams. It is assumed that civic issues in the old city are never ending.
However, on the other hand, new Gurgaon is eternally in the news for reasons like enormous luxury upcoming projects equipped with comfort and lavishness with all the facilities available unlike the old Gurgaon residents who are striving to get basic amenities like water, electricity and proper roads. Like every year and place, the electoral contestants promise for sufficient electricity and water supply within the old Gurgaon followed by a strict improvement in the law-and-order situation and sustain the clean environment, perhaps, none of these issue have been paid heed to till date.
The Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon has constructed few roads in old Gurgaon, but has failed to implement street lighting, sanitation and other facilities. The city part has never been free from the traffic jams since a decade and eventually turns out to be a chaotic place in the evening. One of the key reasons is the lack of co-ordination between the authorities, i.e, the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) and the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG). This has also caused the water-logging and traffic problems at places like Hero Honda Chowk which have not been taken care of till date. Also that these agencies have been causing problems to other agencies creating hurdles for further development.
