New master plan for Chandigarh city
The central government was likely to notify the new master plan – 2031 on the 30th of October. This new master plan will be notified after the Administrator’s Advisory Council (AAC) of the UT administration sends its draft to the ministry of home affairs and the ministry of urban development.
Officials have said that no major change was expected. However they have sent all the suggestions of the AAC members, but the prime outline of the plan will remain the same. The most prominent is that Chandigarh will be remaining as an administrative city. The Chunks of land would be developed for infrastructure facilities so that it can be able to provide services like health and education.
Emphasis will also be laid on important additional factors like solar energy. A senior UT official stated that the Old housing societies will not be allowed to construct additional floors. Post the master plan of Chandigarh city changes are being expected which would help in enabling the further development of this city. As of now however nothing has been disclosed thought the officials clearly stated that no major changes will be encountered in the plan.
