New parking space at Parel
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is to construct a new public parking lot in Lower Parel in coming January as residents in Mumbai are facing difficulty to park their vehicle.
The developers have to handover the parking lot constructed under the parking floor space index (FSI) policy revised by the state government in 2011. The parking lot that they are constructed at Apollo mills in Lower Parel can serve over 680 vehicles.
An automatic mechanised ticketing system has been installed which will take the pictures of the vehicles entering the parking space and the vehicle will also be scanned. The perking lot will be operational from January 1 and the hand over of the parking lot is going on.
The civic body is planning to charge less rates to attract people but the rates are yet to decide.
The state government has already approved 32 parking spaces and another 11 proposals are in the pipeline.
