NHAI Toll Information System portal makes toll collection system more transparent
The website of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) displays toll-related information, thereby increasing the transparency of the toll collection system.
The Toll Information System portal of the NHAI – accessible through nhai.org – will essentially enable the Internet users to know about the charges to be paid at any toll plaza which is situated on any of India’s National Highways. To facilitate the search of toll booths on the country’s map, the Toll Information System portal is GIS-based.
In addition to providing information about poll charges at different toll plazas across the country, the NHAI’s Toll Information System portal will also enable Internet users to know about the availability of facilities at plazas, collection, date of toll fee notification, hospitals, and nearest police station.
Moreover, road users can also learn about the details related to the cost incurred on the project as well as the cumulative revenue collected till a date, along with the number of vehicles passing through a particular toll plaza.
Noting that the Toll Information System portal will be useful not only for road users, but also for the NHAI and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, an official said that the portal will also explain how the toll charges are levied. Moreover, as per the official, the gazette notification for charging toll fee, together with local advertisements, has also been provided for all toll plazas.
