NMC asks property owners without water connection to pay more tax

No Comments Sub Category:Municipality,Other cities,Property Tax Posted On: Sep 04, 2012

The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has asked property owners who do not have water connections to pay extra property tax to make up for the delay in hiking general water tax.

Owners in some localities do not have the water connection. As NMC has started to distribute property tax bills for this fiscal, property tax bills of owners who do not have water connections have been prepared according to the hiked general water tax.

As per the new bills, the biggest sufferers will be property taxpayers with properties having annual letting value (ALV) over 1,000. They will have to pay 40 per cent more property tax as general water tax.

Despite protest against it, the NMC has refused to scrap the hike in water tax.
