According to information from BMC’s hydraulic department there has not been a single FIR against illegal water connections in 2012.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation‘s (BMC) plan to lodge complaints against people taking illegal water connections does not seem to be working.

In 2011, 56 police complaints were filed and in March 2011 the highest number of complaints were reported.

The M-east ward has become well known for unauthorized water connections, breaking water lines illegally as well as drawing water for commercial purposes. Most people who operate the particular city’s illegal tanker lobby perform from this place.

In 2009, the BMC, had declared that they will be lodging police complaints for those people who are found to have illegal drinking water cable connections. The city experienced water crisis due to delay and poor monsoon along with the BMC contemplated restricting drinking water offer by 50% in 2009.

Senior social officials state that they’re proceeding slow-moving in filing complaints against those having unauthorized connections since they tend to be short-staffed in order to go after the conditions.

A social official included that the evaluation following a police complaint is actually time-consuming and also offenders are sooner or later permit off of using a small amount of fine in most cases.
