No impetus found by the experts yet for infrastructure projects of Mumbai in the Maharashtra budget
Apart from the approval for the airport project of Navi Mumbai, the state budget which was presented on Thursday did not contain much concrete decisions in matters of pushing forward the reforms of infrastructure and transport for the metropolitan area of Mumbai.
One of the reliable sources who has been working quite closely with the different infrastructure bodies of the state has mentioned that they are hoping that there will soon be a push and some of the fund allocation for the fresh projects in Mumbai such as the coastal road specially the Versova Bandra and water transport on the eastern and western waterfronts.
In order to push forward the Navi Mumbai airport project, possession of land and rehabilitation of the people who have been affected by the project are definitely required. Not only does this consist of the Navi Mumbai airport project but also the Navi Mumbai developmental activities around the site of the airport such as the trans-harbour link. But, there haven’t been any specific steps in order to improve hurdles such as possession and rehabilitation of land.
