No More Illegal Hoardings in Kolkata
In a move to do away with the illegal hoardings standing across Kolkata the Trinamool Congress-run Bidhannagar Municipality have initiated strict action to penalize the guilty. The move was taken after it was found that there are scores of hoardings which stand illegally in the city. In a recent survey it was concluded by the authorities that out of around 378 billboards, only 190 had the consent of the authorities, also in the survey it was found that many of the hoardings are standing way past their tenure.
Krishna Chakraborty, the Chairperson of the Municipality had said that he would engage in a formal discussion with the advertising agencies in concern. Members of the Bidhannagar Outdoor Advertising Association had informed that they will oblige with the proceedings of the civic authorities. The generally preferred areas of the outdoor ad agencies are Laboni Island, Karunamoyee, PNB Island, City Centre junction, Tank 13 junction and the areas around Nicco Park. Earlier the Left-run civic authority had also taken the initiative of determining and blacklisting the hoardings that stood illegally, however it did not take any legal action thereafter.
