No safety certificates provided to house owners
Since more than a year after residents took over the 336 multi-storey flats in Mukherjee Nagar, there was no water, electricity, parks or roads in the complex. The lifts also did not work initially. Residents just had access to bare shells for apartments and their keys.
The Signature View Towers as the flats are called, till date, do not have a fire safety certificate. These apartments overlook the proposed Signature Bridge and are located close to the Delhi University campus and the Metro station.
Most of the work was done only after residents protested and wrote several letters and sent reminders to DDA officials and the LG’S office. The flats were allotted in April 2011 and the residents got possession in April 2012 after paying the full amount, but they did not get a permanent power connection till the month of May 2013. This was confirmed by one of the residents said.
The Delhi Development Authority sources stated that the 2010 brochure clearly mentioned that some of the flats were not complete and would be delivered only when work on them was over. These were among those units. Most of the electrical work, glass and sanitary fittings are fixed after the unit is taken over by the residents.
